The Castle of the Dukes of Brittany is reopening…
After fifteen years' work and three years of complete closure, the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, newly transformed, is reopening to the public. An ambitious programme of restoration and refurbishment has been completed by the City of Nantes, owner of the monument and the collections it houses. It has breathed new life into this exceptional heritage site in the heart of Nantes, an important symbol of the city's history and the history of Brittany.
The restoration and refurbishment project has articulated the links between a double heritage - a remarkable building and a series of collections - and the expectations of the modern visitor.
The restoration has re-established the Castle's role as an historic symbol and its full potential as a visitor attraction.
A new generation cultural facility has arrived: the new museum benefits from the latest developments in museum design.
The Castle's publications develop the themes explored in the Museum in the form of short booklets and more substantial works.
