Tact Architectes & Tangui Robert
Within the framework of Le Voyage à Nantes 2017
The slide is made of steel, which naturally complements the hewn stones of the fortification wall. Suspended above the moat, and without ever touching the castle, this slide takes visitors on an adventure, where they share the lead role with architectural heritage. The steel ribbon wraps around the contours of the outer wall and forms an arabesque revealing the 19th century section of the castle. It invites us to look differently at the volumes of the Bastion Saint-Pierre, the Tour des Espagnols, or the staircase at the foot of the drawbridge.
You can also simply enjoy the fun of sliding! Visitors step onto the slide and discover a unique viewpoint 12 metres (40 ft.) off the ground, offering a panorama that includes the public courtyard of the castle, the moat gardens, and the historical city centre. They then take a leap of faith, and end up 50 metres (164 ft.) further down.
Slide is open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Possible closure in case of inclement weather. Possible queues.
Must be at least 14 years old to use Paysage glissé (younger visitors must be accompanied).
