Built in the 14th century by Jean IV de Montfort, Duke of Brittany, this polygonal tower is the sole visible trace of the original castle, known as the New Tower (Tour Neuve). The Lodge (Conciergerie) was built in the early 18th century as lodgings for the King's Lieutenant, and later housed the arsenal offices before becoming the Porter's Lodge in 1924 when the Castle was converted into a museum.
Restored and refurbished, these buildings provide a particularly attractive and convivial restaurant area. The menu, designed to reflect the spirit of the place, includes a range of local seasonal produce.
