During the 2009/2010 season, the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, in partnership with the Breton Cultural Agency, offers Breton Voices at the Castle, a monthly arts event where the public can discover or rediscover the creations of Breton artists. The singers, musicians, storytellers and other artists will raise their voices in French, Breton and Gallo in a room of the historic Horseshoe Tower.
Since its reopening, the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany - Nantes History Museum has showcased the history and lively culture of Brittany. The major exhibits «Anne of Brittany, a Story, a Legend» and «Time for the Ball» in 2007, and the rock opera Anne of Brittany by Alan Simon in 2009 are the most significant events.
The castle courtyard will welcome amateur singers and musicians from Nantes on Sunday afternoons in May and June. A series of six concerts will feature choirs, orchestras and chamber music groups. A performance by students from the Conservatory of Nantes will close out the series on Sunday, June 20, the eve of World Music Day.
The event is sponsored by the City of Nantes under the Musica Nantes initiative aimed at developing and promoting the diversity of amateur musical groups.
Sundays 16, 23 and 30 May, 6, 13 and 20 June at 4 PM, free admission.
In partnership with the Association Culturelle de l'Été.
The Aux Heures d'Été programme offers regular live performances and entertainment in the castle courtyard during the summer months.
