Like the museum's displays, the books published by it, in the "Editions du Château", must combine scientific rigour and accessible content. For this reason it has approached university teachers and renowned specialists in the relevant fields to share their knowledge with a wider public. The illustrations, mostly drawn from the museum's collections, have been chosen to shed light on the authors' ideas. Their abundant illustrations, practical format and modest price make these books an attractive purchase. The publishing programme has been conceived with a twin commitment to accessibility and facilitation.

Guides
Reflecting the museum exhibition, a guide entitled "Dix promenades dans l'histoire de Nantes" [Ten historical walks in Nantes] invites the visitor to leave the Castle and follow the traces of history into the modern city, with ten themed walks. A second volume "Nantes, une histoire au fil de l'eau" [Nantes, a history at the water's edge] will suggest ten unexpected routes for discovering the museum.

Two collections
Six books, each devoted to a section of the museum, provide a contrasting picture of the city. A wide choice of booklets will eventually cover all the themes found in the museum: the major milestones in the city's history; the work of the men who fashioned its daily life; the water, fresh and salt, which has brought life, journeys and dreams to its inhabitants...
